An amazing and very different road trip across the American Continent during the hottest summer on record while attempting to cover almost 10,000 km on a classic motorbike using just maps and no support.

From the outset to the end of this escapade, it’s always going to be a question of ‘Go or Bust’ on whether she’ll ever succeed or even finish the journey with the most unexpected obstacles, dangers. and surprises that come her way.

    Hey Zoe

I really enjoyed reading your book while chilling out in kefalonia two weeks ago…part of my “avoid getting too sunburnt strategy”. I picked it up from the book pile in my hotel lounge and was so pleased to find something to read that was right up my street.

It reminded me so much of my “Easy Rider inspired” 3,416.2 km road trip as a naive 18 year old dude in 1972, from Perth, Western Australia to Melbourne on a Triumph Thunderbird (ex police bike that I bought and chopperised)
The main difference with your trip and mine was that I didn’t plan anything…….no tools, no water, no map checks and for at least 300 miles…….no tarmac road! The only thing that went wrong was a failed alternator and the front mudguard falling off…….no bad eh…..I must have been lucky and should have recorded all the crazy experiences

So back to your book and the acid test……..would I buy it, yes, would I recommend people to buy it, yes, it has certainly hit the spot and reconnected my passion for motorcycles and road trips

    All the very best

    Hi Zoe,

I bought a copy of Bonneville Go or Bust from you at Stanford Hall last Sunday,

(we had a brief chat about Peggy Iris Thomas’s book Gasoline Gypsy).

I intended to keep the book to read whilst on holiday in a couple of weeks time but made the mistake of starting it yesterday. I cant put it down!

Absolutely brilliant, a female Bill Bryson with a motorbike.

I am about halfway through now so thought that I ought to order the second book (of hopefully many) to take on holiday, if I can resist starting it before I go.

Keep up the good work & best wishes to you for future adventures.

Hi Zoe, me again. Finished the book yesterday having spent one of the hottest days of the year reading. By the time I had finished it I was absolutely tired out, & I was only READING about your exploits! Quite how you did the mileage that you did in those temperatures is quite amazing.
I have read captivating books before, but nothing like this. Truly superb! 450 pages read in just over two days. Its a good job that I am retired otherwise I would have had to have a sickie day to finish the book as I just couldn’t put it down.
Having been impressed with the way that the Bonneville coped with your trip I now find myself (with my 65th birthday on the horizon) on the internet looking at second hand low mileage T100 Bonneville’s.
Zoe Cano, what have you done! Thank you so much. Hopefully the postman will be here soon with my copy of “Southern Escapades”.

Hi Zoe, this summer I managed to fit your book in my panniers and I have been reading it in my tent, all the way from England to the WIMA rally in Hungary and up to my parents in Sweden, finished it last night. You signed it for me over a year ago and I have felt ashamed every time I’ve seen you, because I had not read it. My excuse is that I have been a full time student so there’s been little time for leisure reading. I enjoyed your book a lot, it was also interesting in contrast, travelling six weeks in USA one country one language one currency and in Europe,10 countries, 8 languages and 6 currencies… I have never wanted to go to USA but your passion for the country and its culture made the book truly enjoyable! Hopefully I can take on your next book soon! Best wishes and I hope to see you soon!

Hi, I’m Daz and I spoke to you and bought your book at the Aberdare Races.
It’s a truly inspirational account of your adventures and can’t stop reading. Just had to share it with you. Good luck on your next trip which I’m sure you’re already planning? I’m hoping to go further than France next year and possibly make my way to the Ducati weekend in Italy on my Kawasaki!!!!

Hi Zoë, I bought this book at Jacks Hill Ton Up Day and read it by the pool and beach in Cyprus.
One of the most enjoyable, riveting books I have read.
I could sympathise with you about the heat as I rode same areas a few years ago, and could relate to great people you meet travelling solo.
All in all a smile inducing, inspiring read, looking forward to reading the second book.
    Bonne chance, Jez Hastings

Hi Zoe, having been laid up with a bad back, I picked up Go or Bust a couple of days ago and have enjoyed travelling across America with you not wanting to put the book down, to see what the next exciting installment had for you. I have been to some of the places you describe but there are, now, a few additions to my bucket list. Beautifully written, it’s been a great read. I’d better get into your southern escapades now ?

Bought “Bonneville Go or Bust” at the Bulldog Bash – read it through the night! Sorry I didn’t buy both but wasn’t sure you’d accept my foreign money ??! Thanks so much for the inspirational book and the What a Guy autograph!! Piqued my wife’s interest!! Travelled some of the roads you describe so vividly, but feel like I really missed out on some of the quirky places you discovered … I’ll just have to go back and do it again (on a 1987 Harley bobber!)

What a great read, I loved it.
You don’t need to ride a bike to get a lot out of this book.
Dreams are out there to be made & owned, does not matter what they are, this book provides a great and warm illustration of how it can be done.
    It’s all out there!!
As a fellow Bonnie owner / rider, am so inspired, every bimble now needs to be an adventure!
Keep on riding and writing Zoe. Thank you!!

Another thumbs up here! A great read, bought my copy from Zoe when she was at the Ace Cafe Overland weekend. I took it with me on a recent business trip to the US, and it kept me suitably entertained on the flights. I also found it a nice change to have a ‘real’ (as opposed to virtual) book to read.

What a great read! …. I liked it all the more for being a quite gentle and almost relaxing journey through some of the lesser known parts of the USA. In fact, the book proved to be a great inspiration for finding some of the places Zoe visited for myself – thank you Zoe! That aside its been an inspirational read, and makes me think about how I can do something similar, meeting so many interesting people along the way.

    Highly recommended!

Personally I think it’s one of the best books I’ve read of this type, watch out Bill Bryson, Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman!
